We live this out by…

GIVING BACK

Every month the Milton 66 selects a local non-profit to support. Check out the menu board to find out who we are supporting. Supporting local causes is especially important in a small town and we are proud to do our part.

PAYING A LIVING WAGE

We pay a fair wage to our employees. We are a service and retail store and we believe paying employees well is important to our mission and our company culture. Paying employees well also means that tips are icing on the cake and can be shared beyond our four walls.

SERVING LOCAL GOODS

We sell local products. Whenever able we source and sell products that are from North Carolina. We prefer to source from Caswell County and are always eager to partner with local businesses to grow the local economy.

It’s beer + garden.

Milton 66 specializes in local craft beer and seasonal plants. It’s a beer garden. We offer indoor seating and a large outdoor seating area (beer garden). Dogs are welcome. We offer light snacks. You are welcome to purchase a snack or bring takeout from a neighboring restaurant. Located in the heart of historic Milton, NC, Milton 66 is a great place to meet friends or as a pit stop while visiting Milton.

About the town.

Milton, NC, is known as a “museum without walls”. Incorporated in 1796, Milton offers a unique history and is a well preserved small southern town. It is a great day trip destination, and we think of ourselves as a pit stop for locals and tourists alike. While you are in town, take a moment to visit the shops and restaurants on Commercial Row (right beside Milton 66). Book a tour of the Union Tavern (148 Broad St) to learn about noted African-American cabinetmaker Thomas Day (1801-ca.1860). Day was a free-black man operating in North Carolina before the Civil War. Learn about the history of the town in one of the few remaining examples of a residential bank in North Carolina at the State Bank (169 Broad St), operated by the Milton Renaissance Foundation. Up the street from the State Bank, shop in the General Store (139 Broad St), which is one of the oldest of its kind in North Carolina. Visit the Cedars Cemetery (located on your left as your head north out of town) to see graves dating back to the 18th century.

Take a walk around town (it’s a historic district) and notice the federal and greek revival architecture. Some notable buildings you will see include the Clay-Lewis-Irvine House, Winstead House, Presbyterian Church, Baptist Meeting House (Milton Church), among other historic homes. Fittings in the Presbyterian Church and Baptist Meeting House (Milton Church) are attributed to Thomas Day.

“Don’t leave without visiting the newly opened Milton 66, a women-owned beer garden that also sells seasonal plants just beyond the county line. Formerly a gas station, the venue has a rotating list of North Carolina craft beers on tap, including ones from breweries like Old Hickory, Brown Truck, and Wicked Weed.

Co-owner Hosanna Blanchard, who grew up in town, put in raised flower beds that attract pollinators, and she left space in the design for food trucks to park. The owners even host yoga classes taught by Doiron. “Since we opened earlier this year”, says Blanchard, “it has turned into this really neat outdoor community gathering place,” somewhere to meet friends among the peace and quiet.”

“It’s a “Beer Garden,” a play on the German word “biergarten”. The beer concept of the business is to sell beer made primarily by North Carolina and surrounding crafters; the garden part of the concept is to not only sell but to decorate the interior and exterior of the business with seasonally grown flowers and plants.”
